Who
is a TechMentor in CVC?
A
CVC TechMentor (March 2004-Feb 2006) is: a middle school teacher
and he/she has been nominated by the school by school
administrators because of their commitment and competence in
technology integration in instruction.
Why
TechMentoring?
- Mentoring, in general, is one of the best strategies for effective
staff development.
- Mentoring is effective in school-settings over centralized workshops.
- Mentoring/TechCoaching provides just-in-time support and training.

Mentoring
|
The mentors will receive training in teacher standards set by ISTE (ISTE
NETS.T).
They will be
encouraged to obtain ISTE NETS.T certification by December 2006.
They will receive
a $1000 stipend per year for a minimum of 40 hours of providing training
and support to teachers in the school ($500 paid by mid November after 20
hours of training, $500 by mid January). The support is NOT technical
troubleshooting. The support is directly related to technology
integration in classroom instruction.
Mentors will
receive a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Instructional Technology
from Virginia Commonwealth University upon completion of five graduate
courses by December 2005. |
