Who is a TechMentor in CVC?
A CVC TechMentor (March 2004-Feb 2006) is: a middle school teacher and he/she has been nominated by the school by school administrators because of their commitment and competence in technology integration in instruction.

Why TechMentoring?
- Mentoring, in general, is one of the best strategies for effective staff development.
- Mentoring is effective in school-settings over centralized workshops.
-
Mentoring/TechCoaching provides just-in-time support and training.

TechMentor Performance
Build relationship with teachers to gain trust and respect.

Lead activities, which will allow both Mentor and teachers to get to know one another.
Use mentoring techniques during meetings with teacher to help him/her integrate technology.

Offer training workshops for teachers.

Train the teachers using the standards and demonstrate technology integration in core content.
Encourage teachers to take Technology trainings as needed.

Understand curriculum and properly support teachers.
Meet regularly to develop curriculum and integrate technology.

Become familiar with curriculum through conversation with the teachers.
Mentor and teachers collaborate to choose the appropriate technology tools to support the curriculum.
Find Internet resources that will help support curriculum, keeping in mind grade level appropriateness.
Explore software that supports curriculum, keeping in mind grade level appropriateness.

Ensure that the teachers perform technology skills needed to be successful with a specific task/project (not to be done by mentors).

Provide individual support as necessary for the teacher for special projects or needs.
Discuss and identify constructivist learning environment (inquiry and project-based.

Ensure that teaching strategies allow for proper integration of computers/lab.

Provide models of effective classroom and lab management.
Demonstrate on proper use of the presentation system and Smartboard if applicable.
Attend team planning meetings or department meetings.

Ensure that adequate time is given to finish a task/project.
Ensure that adequate time is given to evaluate a task/project.
Create a timeline in collaboration with the teachers so that adequate time is provided for teachers to demonstrate integration.
Ensure progress of mentoring and impact on teachers

Maintain documentation of meetings, teacher projects, portfolio of student samples, and other evidences of technology integration by teachers after the mentoring process has begun.
Create a photo album/video for demo.
